1980's & 1990's 八十与九十年代

From 1980 on, my family moved to Xiamen, where I taught.  Mama came for a visit from time to time.

I left Xiamen for USA in 1988.  In 1990 and 1992 my American friends went to my hometown to visit my mother.  I only went back once in 1995.

到了八十年代，我们都到厦门谋生了。妈妈有时也来跟我们住。


1988年我来美国。1990和1992年间，我的美国朋友们去中国时都去石码看望妈妈。我自己直到1995年才得以回国一次。

我和妈妈在厦门悦华酒店，时间应为我即将来美前的1988年。
Mama and an English teacher friend waiting for the arrival of our American friends Bret, Jan and their daughter. The year was 1990. The two  kids were my nephew, and the English teacher's son.
1990年在码头迎候美国朋友。在妈妈身边的是我们的朋友--英语老师吴璇。她左手边是我的侄儿楚威。吴璇身后是她的儿子陈思。

Mama taking Bret and others to the market place.  Following not far behind is our younger son Wei.  In the two years since I left, he has grown up a lot.
妈妈带美国朋友上街。跟在后面的是庄伟。两年不见，庄伟长成大小伙了。

In June 1992, Melaney, Chris, and others from Willamette University went to China and visited with Hong and my mom.  With their help, Hong joined us in the US that year.
1992年6月底，威拉姆特（Willamette）大学Melaney等三位老师去中国旅游。他们还专程去石码看望家母和庄宏。靠在窗口的是 Don，持照相机的是 Bob.   在他们的帮助下，庄宏得以在那年年底来到美国。
