    My 81-year-old mother came to the US in 1999, just after Christmas.  It was almost midnight when their plane arrived at Sea-Tac.  That night, we stayed at Pastor Wu's daughter's home. Early next morning, I saw Pastor Wu and his wife looking in from outside the windows.  I went out to greet them, then went to check mother.  Mother was still sleeping. Her hair thin, her body curled, she looked incredibly small, but she was sleeping soundly, without concern and without worries. 

When I was a child, I must have slept like that.  When I was a child, my mother must have watched me the way I was watching her that frosty winter morning.  In her heart, she must have also pledged to herself that she would watch me, forever.

  妈妈终于在八十一岁时来了美国。那是1999年圣诞节刚过。我和庄宏到西雅图去接机。飞机到的时候是半夜。当晚，住在吴牧师女儿家。次日清晨，我一早起来，就看到吴牧师和牧师娘搀扶着在窗口张望。我去看妈妈，她还没睡醒呢。妈妈头发稀疏，蜷曲着身子，睡得很安心，象个婴儿。

当我是婴儿时，我睡觉应该也是这个样子。当我是婴儿时，妈妈一定也是这样看着我睡的。她也一定曾心里发誓要好好照看我，一辈子。

 1999年12月26日近半夜,庄宏和刚下飞机的八十一岁的奶奶在西雅图 Sea-Tac 机场。
Mama met with her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons that she had not seen for years.  She also met face to face, for the first time, her two future grand daughters-in-law.
妈妈见到了离别多年的儿子、儿媳和孙子，还第一次见到两个未来的孙媳妇。

During the summer of 2000, I took mom up to Seattle and Victoria and Vancouver B.C., Canada. This is on Mt Rainier, Washington.
2000年暑假，头尾五天，我带妈妈北上西雅图和加拿大的维多利亚岛和温哥华。这是在位于华盛顿州的海拔14410英尺，常年积雪的 Mount Rainier (火山).
