I
lost my father at age 8, but I have my mother and my brother.
My
watery
years began in Shima,
a small town in Longhai
City, Fujian Province, China (map).
Shima fills my memories
with recollections of the house
where I grew up, of mom
and dad,
of Chinese New Year,
of hometown church (picture
and text),
and of my
relatives: Uncle
Zhuang Lin, two
grandmas, 2nd
& 3rd Uncles, uncle and aunt in Haicheng, an even
smaller town than Shima, and
my cousins. When my cousins took a picture
with our elders, I was attending a boarding
school in Fuzhou.
The
boarding school I went to was a primary school. So, I learned
to be independent at age 11. Here are
pictures of me and a PLA man.
From
1953 to 1959, I was
a high school student in my hometown Shima. |

With all its good and bad combined, this world is still a lovely place
to be.

This
is our dream land, our land of the free.

This
page will host stories and memoirs about (or by) my relatives
and friends, about (or by) my teachers and students, and about
(or by) my school- or classmates. That is, not about me
or my family, but all others.

We
live here, and this is our beloved land of choice. But we still
have memories and relations that go far across the oceans and
years, that we still remember and miss, and that we visit when
we can.
Below is a list of our homeland
visits, with the most recent on the top.
