Second, the hotel we stayed in Amsterdam was the best of all, with roomy room, large beds, and abundant breakfast. Remember to bring adapters and converters if you travel to Europe and have stuff to plug in, like laptop or battery charger. The voltage is 220V (like in China), and the shape and holes/prongs of the outlet are entirely different from the US, and are not the same among the European countries. All pictures posted here were taken by us. Those from Google, brochure, and the web were duly noted. Most of my posted photos are still missing captions because I do not have time for them yet.
Note: Day 1 was flying from PDX (Portland, Oregon) to JFK (Kennedy Airport in New York), then to LHR (London), while Day 13 was flying home from Paris. |
第二，在我们所住过的旅社中，阿姆斯特丹的旅社房间最大，早餐也最丰富。顺便说说，如果去欧洲旅游，如果你有电脑，电池充电器之类东西，你就一定得带转换插头，也可能需要到电压转换器。美国的电器电压通用110伏。欧洲跟中国一样，都用220伏，但电源插座和插头是形状各异的。 所有放在这里的照片，凡是网页摘取的都另有声明，其他的都是我们自己拍的。但许多照片没有加注释，因为我尚没有时间查证资料。

In
the web page for Day 4, I said Amsterdam did not impress us.
Now let's look at the brighter sides. First, unlike in Paris
where most people do not speak English, here at Amsterdam, most people
do speak English, and speak it well. When we were looking at
a curious fruit in one of the grocery stores, the saleswoman happily
gave a sample for us, saying in English that it is sour, but will
make very good food. Another customer overhead us and further
explained, in excellent English, that it is an import ingredient for
their breakfast meal. It is said that Amsterdam kids learn English
at an early age, much like in Chinese schools.
