35 years ago, without GPS, and without dependable cars， trips to Portland always made us nervous. With our children on the helm now, those high-rises or high-speed did not bother us anymore. Ten years ago, Liqing and I did drive to Wei's every Monday to take care of our grandkids. Being here again, we could not help but walk the same routes to see those beautilful neighborhoods, except I could walk as far or as brisk no more. Hence as a tribute to our traditional lunar new year, and as our best wishes for our folks at home in that far-way country called China. |
35年前，没有GPS全球定位系统，也没有好车，去波特兰的路上我们都是战战兢兢的。现在，是孩子在开车，那些高楼高速当然不再使我慌乱了。十年以前，我跟妻子每个星期一从Salem开车去到小儿子的家帮忙 照看星词和雨诗。如今儿孙都长大了，但重温一下当年走路的街区，路还是都记得的，只是脚力无法像当年走那么远了。 以此纪念这个龙年的春节。愿家乡的亲友们个个安康快乐。 |

Our Dragon Lunar New Year 2024 was celebrated in both our home and that of Wei's, 70 miles away. The four dishes on the top were carefully prepared by Liqing, in the fashion of the tradition. She also hand-made "five-spice" sausages, as instructed in hand-written b note by my mother years back.
