Caleb,
being less than four months old, is always in his mom's arms.
If you take him over, he will stare at you hard, then, realizing
that you are not his mom, he will shift uneasily, then start to
cry. You can cheat him a little longer by holding him against
his back, so that he is not looking at you.
In the presence of Caleb, Kevin looks
like a big brother, at least he'd like to think himself BIG. When
he is with grandparents, he is most interested in being able to
help. If his grandpa makes some noise inside the garage, Kevin
would volunteer and asks "What can I help you with? If his
grandpa is pushing a wheeled-cart in the garden, Kevin would walk
beside the cart, with his hand holding the handle as best as he
can. If his grandpa is using power tools, Kevin would stay away,
far away, but still with his eyes fixed on what his grandpa is
doing.
At the pre-school, or with someone
who speaks English, Kevin speaks English well enough. The other
day I used the word "arm", and he said it is "elbow".
With his Chinese-speaking family, Kevin would mix Chinese with
English, like the examples on the right column.
It's the Fall, and
leaves are showing all colors. The weather is still good. It is
not raining all the time, yet. So Kevin and the next door kid,
Justice, are playing as much as they can outdoors.
For two successive
days (October 26 and 27, 2007), Hong got up at 4:30 to go with
his fishing buddies out to the sea to catch king salmon, and he
caught one each day.
