November 1st
was quite a normal day for me. Upon waking up at about 6:30, I
turned on my iPhone, and instantly saw Wei's message: in the hospital.
A few minutes later, a second message came to announce the birth of
the baby girl. What an extraordinary day! I went to join
Hong in west Salem, who drove Kevin to his Myers elementary school,
then dropped Caleb off at Child Development Center at Chemeketa Community
College, where Caleb signed in for himself, and began his day at pre-K. |

十一月一日这一天本来是平平常常的。我清晨六点半醒来，依常例打开iPhone查邮件、天气和新闻。第一眼就看到庄伟的短信：在医院。随即第二封短信到了：孙女诞生了。早餐后我就去庄宏家（开车十多分钟）。我们一道把凯恩送去他的小学（二年级），然后把恺乐送去他的学前班（设在社区大学内）。照片是恺乐自己签到，然后坐到老师身旁开始他的一天。 |

Before we
went to the maternity hospital, we got to Wei's home first. Li-qing
was busy at the kitchen while Sage was busy with his cars and toys.
After he was put to bed at noon in his own little bedroom, we visited
Maki and the baby in the hospital. |
