Photos
here are from China's northwest. They were not taken by
myself, but by some American friends who have just (April 2006)
come back from Lanzhou, Gansu. They were overwhelmed with what
they saw: the scenery, the culture,and, more importantly,
the people. The lands are almost barren, but the people
there keep their smiles, and their hope for a better future.
Lanzhou is far west of the more famous city of
Xi'an, but was a major stop on the ancient "Silk Road".

这些大西北的照片不是我的作品。它们来自刚从甘肃省回来(二○○六年四月)的美国朋友。水土流失的土地上,有一级一级的梯田,和一群大西北人。日子还是艰辛的,但笑容与希望也永远是有的。
