When the four grandkids are together, the two elder brothers, Kevin and Caleb, would always take care of the two little ones, Sage and Misa. In the vast expanse of the river front park, they played hide and seek, over and over again. At one time, I incidentally exposed their hiding place when I went to take pictures. Later, Sage took refuge far deep in the grass, and was able to foiled his big brothers. Here is a short video of Sage counting (to 100) before setting out to seek his hiding brothers. He is not of schooling age yet, but uttered the numbers accurately and loud, despite his uncle's poking fun with him. It was time to go home. 5-year-old Misa volunteered to haul stuff almost her size and weight. When Uncle Hong challenged his little nephew for a Rock, Paper, Sissors game, Sage readily stretched his hand. But on learning that if he loses, grandma will not go with them, he took his hand back right away. He and his sister loved Grandma so much that they never want to lose her. Next week being the start of the summar vacation, Grandma has promised to go with them to their Vancouver home. The second part of this page are pictures taken at the end of May, when we went for a vacation at Schooner Landing, Newport, Oregon. |
四个孙儿在一起时，当了哥哥的恺恩恺乐总把照顾小弟妹的任务包了起来。在宽阔的河畔公园里，他们一遍又一遍地玩抓迷藏。恺乐星词跑到滑梯处去躲，却被跑去拍照的我给暴露了行踪。后来，星词跑到远远的深草丛躲了起来，终于让比他大八岁的恺恩无功而返。 击打这里可以看到星词捉迷藏报数的视频。他不到六岁，还没有上小学，但报数准确响亮，十分认真。尽管他伯伯不断打断他，调侃他，他仍然坚持数完一百才去找人。 要回家了，不到五岁的雨诗奋勇地帮助搬运东西。分手时，庄宏提出与小侄儿星词玩“剪刀、布、锤”。星词立即把手伸出来。但当他听到他如果输了奶奶就不跟他们去，他马上把手收回来。奶奶可是他和妹妹的最爱。下星期是暑期的开始，奶奶已经答应到他们家去住一个星期。 第二部分是五月底一个周末我们去海边度假的照片。 |

On Father's Day 2016, our family of ten met at a river front park by the Columbian River, on Washington side. I have two sons, and each of them have two children, so we three fathers are really happy and proud on this particular day. Jieying and Jiewen also sent me father's day greeting from Hongkong. When I was teaching at Xiamen University in the 1980's, they were invited to stay with us in our dormitory on the campus. Since then, over 30 years, they have been our family too.
