Yannan 2018 homeland visit 4-anniverary 燕南2018年故乡行4-奶奶忌日

Yesterday (fifth day of the ten month of the lunar year) was my paternal grandmother' s 68th anniversary. If not for Sis, we would have forgotten about the day. In the past it was Mother who recalled the day, and it was Bro who made all the arrangements. Two nights before, Sis somehow got a hunch, and investigated. She put on her reading glass, stood on the chair, and studied the pictures hanging on top of the kitchen door. Her hunch was right. So, this time it was Sis who never saw grandma who got up at half past four to get anniversary feast ready. And since grandma was a Buddhist, all protocol was followed in honoring her, including incense burning, paper money, and query of the tokens.

Mother, at 100, did not come downstairs this year. When food was brought up to her, she asked about the day, and instantly knew it was Grandma's anniversary. Last year, she not only came down, but participated in getting the paper money ready for dedication.

At home in the USA, our younger son drove his RV to a beach resort, with family and grandma, The RV has refrigerator and stove, and can sleep six. Once hooked up at the RV site, they also have water and electricity. Complete with swimming pool and other facilities, and free pancake breakfast, it was a nice site.

昨天（十月初五）是68年前去世的浸水埕奶奶的忌日，但差点被忘了（以前都是妈妈在提醒，弟弟在安排）。前天晚上，妹妹突然心中有感，连忙戴上老花镜，爬上凳子端详挂得高高的遗照，上面印有奶奶的忌日，果然是。所以，这次是不曾与奶奶见过面的妹妹在提醒，并四点半起来张罗一桌好菜，还按佛教徒的习俗，给奶奶上香，烧金银纸，和“掷筊”（筊音jiào ）。

妈妈身体今年比去年差了一大截，因此没有再让她下楼。把东西端上去给她吃时，她问起日子，马上知道是奶奶的忌日。去年。她还帮助准备祭祀用的金银纸呢。

美国那边，小儿子一家周末开休闲车出去，把奶奶也带去。休闲车有冰箱炉灶床铺，可以睡一家四口加奶奶。水电由休闲车营地提供。营地有游泳池和和其它活动设施，还供应免费早餐，很不错的。
