We were all there, forty years ago, in Longhai 1st High School teaching English. Today, my colleagues came from Xiamen and Zhangzhou to invite me for a day trip in a nearby farm. The farm used to shelter oversea Chinese from various southeastern countries when they were being expelled or persecuted by their host countries.

At high school, we were required to do farming there a lot of weekends. As a head teacher after the fall of the "Gang of Four" when English was much needed, I went there as a representative of the county educational bureau and recruited quite a few young teachers from there. Later when I taught at Xiamen University, we also helped a friend's young children to stay and settle with us.

There was a light rain, but we, eight of us, enjoyed renewal of our 40-years-old friendship.

40年前，我们都在龙海一中任教。承蒙老同事们记挂着我，知道我回来，相约去双弟华侨农场走访“鹭凯生态庄园”。

双弟农场我还是熟悉的。当中学生时曾经多次去劳动，还挑肥上山。“四人帮”倒台后复兴英语教学，我还跟县教育局人事到农场挑了好几个人下山当英语教师。在厦门大学时，杰英杰文还把户口从农场迁到我们在厦大芙蓉三的宿舍，成了我们的一家人。
