Most folks in my hometown Shima are Budhists, including my grandpa and grandma who perished 67 years ago. In their honor, on grandma's anniversary today (11-22-2017), we remember her the way she wanted remembered. A table of good food, incense burning, paper money, a lot of. At the last step where we would toss up two tokens for them to fall, head or tail, they never match, meaning that our ancestor was not ready to let us go. At this juncture, we remembered that the soup was still in the pot and needed to be put on the table. Mother also said that we needed to leave our ouside door open so that grandma's souls can enter and visit. With both done, the tokens agreed at once.
