I made a three-day visit to Fuzhou from (October) 26 to 28. This is the city I called home for 12 years, since as early as I was a 12 years old in a boarding primary school, later as a college student at 19, later as a provincial cadre after my college graduation, until 1969, when our school was disbanded, and we were driven down to the countryside.

Three days, then, was far too short to meet folks dear to me in the heart. But I managed to see some, even spent half a day walking in the nearby Hotspring Park. Everywhere I went or saw, both on the high speed train, or in the towns and cities, China is leaping forward with great strides. Something entirely out of line, unthinkable, in Mao's era when factories were torn down and workers forced to move inland to prepare for war.

Anyway, I met with Liqing's eldest sister and family on the first night I arrived. The second day we (Jianfei and I) went to Mr. Ying's home (to be exact, his daughter's home), then to his 90th birthday dinner. Many people would miss their childhood memories or primary school days, but few could grow so fond of their teacher like we do, because our teacher was really special. He and his wife (also our teacher) always did their best to receive us and help us. Hence our love and gratitude to them lasting 65 years.

26日到28日之间，我匆匆跑了一趟福州。我12岁到福州读小学，19岁读大学，以后工作到28岁下放，头尾12年都把福州当家乡。但回中国是为了陪伴妈妈，所以去福州就头尾三天。

福州市内看的，与坐动车沿路看的，就六个字：大建设、大进步。与老毛时代相比，这叫不可同日而语。因为当时只搞“深挖洞”和“大三线”。小年轻们明白什么叫“大三线”吗？那是为了备战，拆掉城市里的工厂，全部搬迁到山区（如宁化、宁德、龙岩等）。当年我乘坐汽车从福州到漳州，车票倒不算贵（十来块），就是路上得开十个小时。与如今乘坐动车的二个小时（车票100多块）相比，您想挑哪一个呢？

在福州的第一个晚上，与丽卿的大姐一家人见面和吃饭。彼此见面都十分高兴，十分亲切。几年前的小字辈今天个个独领风骚，活得很甜润。就是城市人多车多，这是发展中的阵痛，到处如此，小石码也不例外。

第二天是在福州的唯一一个全白天。上午与老友健飞慕适去酒店旁边的温泉公园走走。下午就与健飞去应端章老师家。应老师是我们65年前在福州读小学时的老师。我们所以记得他，是因为他对学生不离不弃，即使毕业了好几年，即使有的同学很落魄。正好，那一天是老师的90大寿。我们应邀参加，并拍了一些照片。很高兴与应老师的家人们相识，并成了朋友。这是福州行的另一个收获。
