I went back to Fuzhou on November 18, 2016. I consider Fuzhou my adopted hometown because I had lived here for 12 years (elementary school 1952-53, college 1959-63, work 1964-69). What's more, I still have teachers and alumni, relatives and friends here whom I truly miss. Fuzhou has seen rapid development, like everywhere else in the country. But it is not the landscape or the buildings that I came to see. I came to be vis-à-vis with faded memories and friends old and new.

The day on my arrival, three sisters came to pick me up for a dinner with them and their families. 50 years ago they were little girls barely out of high school, but they remember me keeping their occasional company in their times of need. Their parents and grandma, on the other hand, were very kind to us all their lives. The next day my friend Mr. Pan and I went to see our elementary school teachers 64 years ago and two schoolmates. That afternoon, Mr. Pan and I went to meet our common friend Mr. Wan and his family. On the third day, I was at the birthday dinner honoring Liqing's elder sister's husband, who was turning 83.

Of the four days and three nights in Fuzhou, I stayed on the campus of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, whose panoramic view picture I posted above. The campus has a lot to present in natural beauty: water, trekking hills, plants and trees. Dr. Zhang and his wife kindly offered me their own residence, and stuffed it with new daily necessities, bread, milk, and fruits. So I've met friends new and old over a span of 64 years. I am so relieved to see the city leap in giant steps, and its citizens beginning to enjoy a good life. I just wish that Cultural Revolution-like nightmare will not be repeated, and Mao's hand waving statue in the city's May First Square will disappear one day.

2016年11月18日我返回我的第二故乡福州。我把福州当第二故乡，是因为我在福州住了12年（小学1952-53，大学1959-63，工作1964-69），而且福州住着相互挂念的师长、亲戚和挚友。福州变得十分豪华，十分新潮，但我无意故地重游。福州吸引我的，唯有记忆和新老朋友。

到福州当晚，就有故友三姐妹来接我去和她们及家人吃饭。五十年前她们都是小姑娘，她们说我曾经接待过她们，我记得的是她们的父母和奶奶的长期的无私的爱和帮助。第二天中午，我和健飞去会我们64年前的小学老师和同学。下午、晚上我和健飞与挚友慕适和他的家人见面。第三天，我与丽卿的姐姐一家人在一起庆祝姐夫的83岁生日。

在福州的四天三夜我都住在全景题头照的福建农林大学校园。有山有水有花木有果树，农大的环境相当美丽，后山更是步行的好去处。张教授夫妇把他们的住房让给我，冰箱里放有牛奶面包，饭桌上摆着时新水果，还换了全新的生活用具。新旧朋友，新旧情谊，跨越五六十年。终于看到城市在快速发展，终于看到民众开始过上好生活。愿文革恶梦不会重演，愿五一广场上那尊挥手像早日消失。
