Life
in a small town like Shima is not great, not fancy, but is very
convenient. Vendors come to your door, and neighborhood
stores are close-by. You can get all things you need, food,
medicine, and other items just with a few minutes' walk out to
the streets. And they are mostly inexpensive. One Chinese
yuan (equivalent of $0.25) would buy me four buns, or bread, enough
for my breakfast (but I will also need a small bag of milk, costing
about two quarters). Besides, there is no frozen meat.
Everything is fresh. See photos here, and on the page dedicated
to my mom.
